About Us
Entomica Insectarium is where curiosity takes root and community grows together!
Through our immersive, hands-on encounters with insects and other fascinating critters, we aim to connect families, schools, and lifelong learners to the wonders of science and nature.
As an educational hub, Entomica transforms classrooms, private and public events into vibrant opportunities for discovery. We empower educators, spark student engagement, and provide tools for deeper learning, all while using some of nature’s smallest creatures as bridges to big ideas about biodiversity, conservation, and culture.
We believe learning is strongest when it’s shared. By inspiring wonder and stewardship in our community, Entomica helps shape a future where science, creativity, and care for the natural world are woven into everyday life.

Our Story
Entomica Insectarium is a charitable, not-for-profit science centre and natural history museum, proudly nestled inside the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Since opening our doors in 2014, Entomica has grown into a vibrant hub of curiosity and discovery, where exotic insects, amphibians, reptiles, fish, and birds open a window into the wonders of the natural world.
What sets Entomica apart is our ability to carry that wonder beyond our walls. As the first insectarium in Canada federally approved to bring live exotic insects off-site, we deliver unforgettable, hands-on programs to classrooms, retirement residences, cultural festivals, and community events of every kind. Wherever we go, our bug ambassadors spark curiosity, laughter, and awe! Transforming a simple encounter with a bug into a lifelong memory.
Our efforts have earned national recognition from the Canadian Association of Science Centres and local acclaim from Tourism Sault Ste. Marie for our innovative contributions to culture, education, and conservation. Along the way, we’ve built partnerships with organizations like the Art Gallery of Algoma, Clean North, Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site, the Great Lakes Forestry Centre, the Ontario Forest Research Institute,
We believe collaboration strengthens community. From Earth Day at the Royal Ontario Museum to a feature on The Amazing Race Canada, from the Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival to the Great Northern Ontario Roadshow, our bugs have been ambassadors of wonder, sparking joy and respect for nature across the province.
Today, with the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre as a proud operating partner, Entomica continues to bring science to life! Igniting imagination, inspiring stewardship, and connecting people of all ages to the beauty and importance of biodiversity. We invite you to be part of this journey: together, we can ensure Entomica thrives as a place of discovery, education, and wonder for generations to come.
